Gs-2 Governance: Though India has reduced poverty as per multidimensional poverty index,1/6th of population still suffers from hunger. What is the link between hunger and poverty? How far can education tackle both? Discuss in light of SDGs. (250 words, 15 marks)

1. What is MPI.

2. List its parameters and write that may be because of parameters only arithmetic numbers have reduced.

3. Link poverty and hunger. Write about lack of resources, poor subsistnce farming, malnourishment facts etc to establish link. Can give example here.

4. List at least 5 reasons that education can counter both.

5. Include from SDG goals n targets. Even passing reference of SDG numbers related to education, hunger and poverty will serve the purpose.

6. Include facts, issues, solutions from reports like rangarajan, hungama etc.

Gs-3 Agriculture-Economy: Demand of farm loan waiver has resurfaced in backdrop of floods. Discuss the economic impacts of loan waiver keeping in mind government’s vision to double farmer income by 2022. What according to you are sustainable solutions to manage the trio of loans-agriculture-economy?
(250 words, 15 marks)

Structure/Theme:

There are 4 parts: demand, eco impact, farmers and solutions. Write 3-4 points for each.

1. Start with loan waiver demands of prev years. You have to show that demands have resurfaced. Each word of question is important! Write newsbackground of current demand.

2. Economic impact 3-4 points.

3. Link point number 2 with 3-4 points on doubling farmer income. Clearly mention the dichotomy that situation presents. Mention that adhoc solutions wont solve this dichotomy.

4. Sustainable long term solutions 3-4.

5. Include from MSPs, swaminathan, economic survey, budget, agricultural reports, RBI on loan waivers etc.

6. Diagram.

7. Conclusion.

Gs-1 History: Gandhi saw opportunity of uniting Hindus and Muslims during non cooperation movement and Khilafat, but this could not be realized in long term due to ‘extreme communalism’. Elaborate in context of partition of India. (150 words, 10 marks)

Structure/Theme:

1. Start with 100 years of movement.

2. Small intro (2-3 lines) about NCM and Khilafat.

3. Why there was opportunity for hindu muslim unity? 3 points.

4. What is extreme communalism?

5. How extreme communalism led to partition?

6. Hence, how it hindered in long term hindu muslim unity/indirect goal of Khilafat/NCM.

7. Chronological flowchart as diagram.

8. Mention important events, years, leaders names etc.

9. Conclude by writing current status of hindu muslim unity.

Gs-4 applied ethics: “Even the most rational approach to ethics is defenseless if there isn’t the will to do what is right”. What does this mean for a public servant? Explain with examples. (150 words, 10 marks)

1. Define ethics.

2. Will to do what is right comes from cardinal virtues of fortitude and prudence. It serves justice. Have to mention such keywords without which answer wont look like that of ethics.

3. If one does wrong despite knowing whats right (wrong od commission) or does nothing at all (wrong of omission) then no matter how ethical he she is, action cant be defended or justified.

4. Write 2 examples wrt public servants.

5. Include keywords from foundational values.

GS-1 Indian society + Geography: India is land of diversity. What are various aspects of unity in diversity? How Islands of India add to linguistic diversity? (200 words, 12.5 marks)

Structure/Theme:

Need 12 points for 12 marker question. This ques has 3 parts, hence 4 points per part.

1. Define diversity (intro).

2. Prove that india is land of diversity in 4 points (religion,languages, culture, regions, urban rural, ethnic etc).

3. Unity in diversity 4 points. (what, how, why) include keywords like pluralistic society, pluralism, brotherhood, integrity etc.

4. Mention islands. Tell tribe wise languages. This can be read from census.

As it it asked “how islands add”, you also need to write in 2-3 lines on overall linguistic diversity of india.
