This post is a compilation of question answers given for practice of Decode Civils Telegram group (link at end of post) as part of the new evaluation process.

Question 1: Indian society is still schizophrenic towards women. Discuss giving innovative measures to change societal mindset with regard to women. (200 words, 12.5 marks)

Structure/Theme: Divide answer in subparts. Answer each equally.

1. Intro: About indian society and its features. Just mention in one or two lines.

2. ‘Still’ word means that you have to answer in terms of both past (1st part) and present (2nd part) times. Innovative measures (3rd part).

3. As there are 3 parts for 12.5 marks, assume each part to be of 4 marks. Write 4 points for each.

4. Measures shall be innovative. Not just any other measure.

5. Include keywords from society and ethics to make it GS society answer. Example: commodification of women, objectification, feminization of poverty, genderization of labour etc.. Plain answer wont fetch you marks as question is very simple.

6. Draw diagram.

7. Include reports like census, arc, secc, ncrb etc.

8. Conclusion.

Question 2: Vikram Sarabhai is father of Indian space program and helped India become a major science and technology power.
How far has India come since start of nuclear programme? (250 words, 15 marks)

Structure/Theme:

1. Intro: Sarabhai and his contributions apart from space and science.

2. Contribution to space programme.

3. Contribution to sci tech.

Dont forget to link how contribution in point 2 and 3 led to India becoming a power in space and science. Just write a line that it was his contribution that made India power.

Question 3: Recent slowdown in Indian economy is result of both local and global factors. Do you agree? List the steps taken by government and other agencies to counter the same. Do you think these steps are adhoc? (250 words, 15 marks)

Structure/Theme:

There are 5 main parts of this ques: local, global, govt, other agencies, adhoc. Divide answer in five parts and address equally. If this is 15 marker then 3 marks/points needed for each sub part.

1. News background of recent slowdown, market fall, tax collection etc with facts and figures. Mention reports if any. This is intro.

2. Mention if you agree with statemnt or not. In this question, it is a simple yes.

3. Make heading local factors and write 3 points.

4. Global factrs 3 points.

5. Govt steps 3.

6. Agencies 3 points.

7. Adhoc vs long term measures as conclusion of answer.

8. Quote eco survey, budget, reports etc.

Question 4: What are cardinal virtues? Explain, with examples, their importance in ancient and contemporary India. (150 words, 10 marks)

Structure/Theme:

Very simple and bookish question. Can be asked given the recent trends.

1. Intro: definition of virtue and cardinal virtue. In 2-3 lines.

2. Mention thinkers aristotle, plato, st aquinas. 1 or 2 lines..

Intro and thinkers make 1-2 marks.

3. List cardinal virtues and explain them..4-3 marks.

4. Give 1 example while explaining point number 3.

5. Can draw hub spoke diag showing cardinal virtues.

Question 5: Abolition of article 370 and making UTs can trigger domino effect and challenge unity and integrity of India. Critically analyze giving the steps that administration can take to avoid such demands. (250 words, 15 marks)

Structure/Theme:

1. Intro: News background of abolition of 370. Mention act name. News background of two new UTs. Domino effct definition.

The above 3 shud be mentioned in 2-3 lines each.

2. Unity and integrity, mention preamble.

3. Domino effct of 370? Can it challenge unity and integrity? Yes and No points. Mention bodo, naga, mizo, gorkha, 371 etc.

4. Domino effct of UT? Can it challenge unity and integrity? Yes and No points. Mention UTs, articles.

5. 5 Points: Admin steps. Note that steps shall be more admin related rather than just govt related.

6. Diagram.

7. Conclusion.

Question 6: Annual cycle of droughts and floods has been a challenge not only in India but also elsewhere. Elaborate on urban floods. List measures for rehabilitation in flood affected rural areas. (250-300 words, 15 marks).

Structure/Theme:

Divide question in 3 parts.

First:

1. News background with india example.

2. Annual cycle of flood n drought with example of both india and world. Can write about China, Peru, SEA etc.

3. Draw map to show affctd areas (world or India).

Second:

4. Five points urban floods include what, why and solutions.

Third:

5. Rural flood rehab five points.

6. Hub spoke diag can be drawn easily.

7. Include keywords like ipcc, climate change, hydrological cycle etc.

8. Conclusion.
